SaBRE - Support for Employers
SaBRE, Supporting Britain's Reservists and Employers, is a Ministry of Defence marketing and communications campaign which was created in the belief that if an employer understands the role of Reservists and is aware of the skills they develop then their support for their Reserve Forces employees will be that much greater.
In Wales we currently have something in the order of 2,000 reservists who are employed in over 1,000 different companies and organisations spanning both the public and private sectors.
With continual mobilisation of individuals and contingents in support of operations, employer support is a critical activity which underpins the ability of Defence to meet its operational commitments.
The RFCA for Wales through the SaBRE Campaign Director is responsible for ensuring that companies and organisations understand the benefits and obligations associated with employing Reservists.
Through active engagement a network of supportive employers has been established which helps to raise the profile of our Volunteer Reserve Forces and also serves to reassure and inform potential employers.
Arguably, during these challenging economic times, it is even more important that employers are made aware of their rights and obligations in relation to employing reservists.
2011-13 will see a significant number of Welsh reservists deploy on operations in Afghanistan, Cyprus and elsewhere and the SaBRE campaign in Wales remains dedicated to supporting this effort.
