Territorial Army
The Territorial Army has been a fundamental part of the British Army since its formation as the Territorial Force in 1908.
Its contribution to the defence of the UK is now well established in our country’s 20th century history and in the 21st century it continues to contribute to the defence of the UK.
Here in Wales we make a considerable contribution to the Territorial Army and we are the home of 160 (Wales) Brigade, the hub of the Army activity here in Wales.
In addition to a number of Regular Army units serving in Wales it is also the home of a number of Reserve Units comprising of the Royal Engineers, Royal Artillery, Infantry, Royal Signals, Royal Logistics Corps, Army Medical Services and the University of Wales Officer Training Corps.
Wales’ contribution to the Army is considerable; it is the home to some of the key training establishments and areas available to the UK forces which includes Castlemartin Range, the Royal Artillery Range Manorbier, the Joint Mountain Training Centre in Anglesey and Sennybridge Training Area where Reservists can train.
