Wales URNU is a lively and dynamic organisation formed in 1994, which exists to give undergraduates an insight into today’s modern Royal Navy.

URNU offer maritime and leadership skills and qualifications, a range of sporting and adventurous training opportunities, travel and adventure and an excellent social life!

Student’s join in their first year as Officer Cadets and become Midshipmen in the Royal Naval reserve thereafter.

The Unit is based at HMS Cambria, an RNR establishment about 10 miles from the centre of Cardiff.

Our ship, HMS Express, is a P2000 class fast Patrol Craft based at Penarth Marina in Cardiff Bay with a full time ship’s company of five.

HMS Express is linked with the town of Aberystwyth on the west coast of Wales and also has links with two sea cadet units TS Cossack (Barry) and TS Glamorgan (Penarth), as well as with the Dean Close School Combined Cadet Force.
