144 Parachute Medical Squadron (Volunteers) is unique in that it is the only parachute trained medical unit in the Army with their main role being to treat casualties on the battlefield.
The squadron reinforces a regular Army unit, 16 Medical Regiment, which provides medical support to 16 Air Assault Brigade.
Each member of the squadron whether a doctor, driver or chef, is required to undergo full parachute training as part of one of the toughest military selection courses in the world and wears the coveted maroon t-shirts and berets.
Army Medical Reservists receive the same basic training as any infantryman with their main concern not to fight, but to provide life saving fist aid to casualties and arrange their evacuation to safety.
The detachment is located in Llandaff North, Cardiff and is co-located with 203 Field Hospital. For more information please Click Here to visit the National Website
